Use a period, please.

I am so glad to have a little investigator in our home. I really am happy that he asks so many questions. At the rate that Coleman asks questions, though, I think he should know everything I know by now. Some days, like today, there is hardly breath between his questions. Without a moment for even a thought to myself, I needed a short break. A time-out, if you will. So this evening I told him that he couldn't ask any questions until I was done cleaning the kitchen. Our conversation went something like this:

Me: "No more questions until I'm all done cleaning the kitchen, starting right now. You can talk, just don't ask me any questions."
Him: "Why not?"
Me: "No questions, Coleman."
Him: "Was that a question?"
Me: "Yes. Now no more questions."
Him: "When can I ask a question?"
Me: "No questions."
Him: "Was that a question, too?"
Me: Silent
Him: "Are you done cleaning yet?"
Me: Silent
Him: TOTALLY silent for five full minutes.

I guess I need to teach him how to use a period.
