Sometimes I'm not sure Coleman listens when I answer his questions. I guess he must listen at least some of the time, though. Here are two conversations we had in the car today.
Coleman: Why is all the sun on Reese's side, Mom?
Me: Because its morning and the sun comes up in the east and Reese is on the east side of the car.
Coleman: The sun can't come up. The sun doesn't MOVE, mom. It stays still and the earth moves. Silly Mom.
He went on to tell me about how it's dark right now on the other side of the earth because they are not facing the sun now, but later today the earth will move and it'll be our turn to not face the sun. Then he told me that I didn't have to worry, because gravity will keep us on the ground no matter which side of the earth we're on, even the people on the bottom. Phew! Glad I don't have to worry!
Later the same car ride:
Coleman: Mom, am I denser than water?
Me: Yeah, I guess so. Why?
Coleman: Because I sink. But my lifejacket floats. It's not as dense as water, right?
